The Finnish school Kyösti Kallio’s school is located in the small town of Nivala in the northern part of Finland. Our school is a primary school and the children are between the ages of 7 and 13. We also have a pre-school group. We have 387 students, 32 teachers and 24 school assistants. We also have 64 special needs students and students with severe disabilities that are between the ages of 7 and 16.
We will run the project with the whole school without selected pupils. Our motivation is to encourage pupils to be independent and develop their critical thinking, concerning our surrounding environment. We would also like to broaden the pupils’ perspectives of the world and attach them to be part of the European community, especially since our school is situated in the rural part of Finland.
